OSKAR-VON-MILLER STRASSE 16, an art space founded 2000 in Frankfurt M. by Michael Riedel and Dennis Loesch, became renowned as a gigantic replication device. With the call of ‚RECORD – LABEL – PLAY BACK,’ a group of young artists reiterated the language of a city’s cultural offerings— often without a full understanding of what they were reciting, but always with an acute aesthetic interest in the faults of transmission and transference.
The publication 'Oskar- a novel' itself is a product of such practices. Scores of audio and visual materials, partly in the form of transcripts from two Conferences of Anecdotes, chronicle the group’s eleven years of Trojan activities: a natural force uncontrived amidst the staging of innumerable cultural endeavors.

WARHOL SHOOTING (INSTALLATION), 2001 / 2014 – In the form of two so-called Conferences of Anecdotes, the book Oskar replays the repeated story of Oskar-von-Miller Strasse 16 (2000 to 2014). A replica of the rooms of Warhol’s second Factory (as pictured in Cecil Beaton’s photo ‘Andy Warhol and the Members of the Factory’ taken in 1969) serves as a display for the book and had already provided the setting for a re-enacted group shot in 2001. Forming part of the installation is a camera, positioned to imitate almost identically Cecil Beaton’s perspective when the original shot was taken, that automatically takes pictures of exhibition visitors as they read from the book.
